Found a collection? Let's take a look together
Whether it is a single note your grandfather kept or a full collection you have inherited, here is exactly what to expect when you bring it in to Eccles Coins and Banknotes.
Bring It In
Visit us during opening hours. No appointment needed for most collections.
We Assess It
We go through each piece with you, explaining what we see and why it matters.
We Make an Offer
A fair price based on condition, rarity, and current demand, explained clearly.
You Decide
No pressure. Take the offer, take some time, or take your items home.
Bright and uncirculated, or worn smooth from decades of handling. We want to see it either way.
If it is a coin or a banknote, or even scrap gold, we want to see it
Coins, loose or in albums
New Zealand or world, common or scarce. Even a jar of odds and ends is worth a look.
Banknotes and sets
Single notes, folders, or full sets, from New Zealand or overseas.
Inherited collections
Never handled a collection before? That is completely fine. We will walk through it together, no jargon.
Scrap gold, silver + platinum
Broken chains, odd earrings, old rings, anything gold, silver, or platinum that is no longer worn. We weigh it and offer a fair price on the spot.
A few tips that help
Leave coins as they are
Please do not clean or polish coins before bringing them in. Cleaning can actually reduce value.
Bring any paperwork
Certificates, old receipts, or notes from a previous owner can add helpful context.
Call ahead for large collections
For anything more than a handful of items, a quick call helps us set aside enough time.
